According to the data from Ocean Conservancy, an American Non-Government Organization, the 7th most commonly found plastic waste in the world's ocean was plastic straw.
In American, people use around 500 million plastic straws daily, which are being used only once and littered. These widely used plastic straws are not decomposed easily. Plastic straws are made of Polypropylene and therefore it takes more than 200 years to decompose entirely, they are left as microplastic as more time passes. Not disposing of the plastic straws in the landfill properly can have a big impact, they can lead to the river, ocean, which not only create a pollutant environment but also harm marine animals' lives in the ocean. Marine animals such as sea fish, sea turtles, seabirds, and other seaweeds at least 100,000 animals die each year as a result of missed-consumption of plastic.
Therefore, on some beaches, they have banned plastic straws. Organizations such as Starbucks and McDonald's are working to gradually reduce the use of disposable plastic straws and completely eliminate the use of them. The best and sustainable way we can do to solve this plastic straw consequence is by refusing to use any. We can use eco-friendly and environmentally friendly plastic straws such as Bamboo straws, steel straws and we can also use paper straw as well. We all know how plastics are harming our planet and our ocean, let’s just start refusing to use plastic straws, and let’s just start taking care of our planet.

Ocean Conservancy ဆိုတဲ့ အမေရိကန်အခြေစိုက် အကျိုးအမြတ်မယူတဲ့ သဘာဝပတ်ဝန်းကျင်ဆိုင်ရာလှုံ့ဆော်ရေးအဖွဲ့မှရရှိသောအချက်အလက်တွေအရ ကမ္ဘာ့ပင်လယ်ကမ်းခြေတွေမှာ "7"ခုမြောက်တွေ့ရအများဆုံးသောပလတ်စတစ်စွန့်ပစ်ပစ္စည်းဟာ တစ်ခါသုံးပလတ်စတစ်ပိုက်တွေဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
အမေရိကန်တစ်နိုင်ငံထဲမှာတင် လူတွေ တစ်ရက်တာအသုံးပြုတဲ့ ပလတ်စတစ်ပိုက်အရေအတွက်ဟာ 500 million ဝန်းကျင်ရှိပါတယ်။
ဒီပလတ်စတစ်ပိုက်တွေကို လူအများစုက တစ်ခါသုံးအနေနဲ့ဘဲသုံးစွဲပြီး စွန့်ပစ်နေကြတာပါ။ ဒီလို ပေါပေါများများ အလွယ်တကူသုံးစွဲ စွန့်ပစ်နေကြတဲ့ ပလတ်စတစ်ပိုက်တွေဟာ တကယ်တော့ အလွယ်တကူမပျက်စီးနိုင်ပါဘူး။ ပလတ်စတစ်ပိုက်အများစုကို polypropylene နဲ့ပြုလုပ်ထားတာကြောင့် ၎င်းတို့ပြိုကွဲပျက်စီးဖို့အချိန်အားဖြင့် နှစ်ပေါင်း ၂၀၀ ခန့်ကြာမြင့်နိုင်ပါတယ်။ ဒါတောင်လုံးဝ ပြိုကွဲပျက်စီးသွားတာမဟုတ်ဘဲ micro plastic （ပလတ်စတစ်အမှုန်အမွှား） တွေအဖြစ်ကျန်ရှိနေသေးတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ စနစ်တကျ စွန့်ပစ်ထားခြင်းမရှိတဲ့ ပလတ်စတစ်ပိုက်တွေဟာ မြစ်ချောင်းများမှတစ်ဆင့် ပင်လယ်သဒ္ဒရာများထဲကို ရောက်ရှိတဲ့အခါ ရေထုညစ်ညမ်းမှုကိုဖြစ်စေရုံသာမက ငါး၊ပင်လယ်လိပ်၊ပင်လယ်ငှက်နဲ့အခြားပင်လယ်သတ္တဝါများက အစာအမှတ်နဲ့စားသုံးမိကြတဲ့အတွက် တစ်နှစ်ကို ပင်လယ်သတ္တဝါ အနည်းဆုံး 100,000ခန့်သေဆုံးနေကြပါတယ်။
ဒါကြောင့်ယခုဆိုလျှင်ကမ္ဘာ့ပင်လယ်ကမ်းခြေအချို့မှာ တစ်ခါသုံးပလတ်စတစ်ပိုက်အသုံးပြုမှုကို လုံးဝပိတ်ပင်တားမြစ်ထားပါတယ်။ Starbucks, McDonald's စတဲ့ဆိုင်တွေမှာလည်း တစ်ခါသုံးပလတ်စတစ်ပိုက်တွေ အသုံးပြုမှုကို တဖြည်းဖြည်းလျော့ချဖို့နဲ့ လုံးဝမသုံးဖို့ လုပ်ဆောင်နေကြပါပြီ။ဒီပလတ်စတစ်ပိုက်ပြဿနာကိုမိမိတို့တစ်ဦးခြင်းအနေနဲ့ဖြေရှင်းနိုင်တဲ့ အကောင်းဆုံးနည်းလမ်းကတော့ငြင်းပယ်ခြင်းပါ။ အကယ်၍မသုံးမဖြစ်တဲ့ အခြေအနေမှာဆိုလျှင်လည်း Eco friendly and reusable straws တွေဖြစ်တဲ့စတီးလ်နဲ့ပြုလုပ်ထားတဲ့ပိုက်၊ ဖန်ပိုက်၊ ဝါးပိုက်၊ စက္ကူပိုက်စတာတွေကို အစားထိုးသုံးစွဲပေးဖို့ အကြံပြုတိုက်တွန်းပါရစေ။ကျွန်မတို့အားလုံးတန်ဖိုး ထားရတဲ့ ပင်လယ်၊သမုဒ္ဒရာကြီးတွေနဲ့ ပင်လယ်သတ္တဝါတွေကို ကာကွယ်နိုင်ဖို့ ခုချိန်ကစပြီး မိမိရဲ့အပြုအမူတိုင်းကိုသတိနဲ့ဆင်ခြင်လို့ တစ်ခါသုံးပလတ်စတစ်ပိုက်တွေကိုငြင်းပယ်ကြရအောင်နော်။
