Biodegradable Plastics are the plastics that can be broken down into smaller pieces of plastics naturally in the environment. This occurs when the microorganisms in the environment metabolize and breakdown the structure of biodegradable plastics into smaller pieces.
Biodegradable plastics do not contain high and heavy chemicals. Biodegradable plastics can break down in 6 months maximum when being exposed to natural processes. However, Biodegradable Plastics can not be broken down wholly. The final broken biodegradable plastics are microplastics which is around 2 millimeters.
Many businesses and production industries are using biodegradable plastics as a sustainable approach to solving plastic pollution. But the only question is “ Are Biodegradable Plastics sustainable?”, “Can it be the solution to our plastic pollution?” Researchers and scientists are not very fond of biodegradable plastics bags, a study found biodegradable plastics bags do not decompose completely after burying them in the soil for three years.
