၂၀၁၈ခုနှစ် နို၀င်ဘာလတုန်းက sperm whale တစ်ကောင်ဟာ အင်ဒိုနီးရှားနိုင်ငံ၊ Wakatobi အမျိုးသားဥယျာဉ်ရှိ Kapota ကျွန်းမှာ သေဆုံးနေတာကိုတွေ့ရပါတယ်။ ထို Sperm whaleရဲ့ အရွယ်အစားမှာ ၉.၅ မီတာ အရှည် ရှိပြီး၎င်းရဲ့ ၀မ်းဗိုက်ထဲမှာ ၁၃ပေါင်လောက်ရှိတဲ့ ပလတ်စတစ်အမှိုက်တွေကို တွေ့ရှိရတယ်လို့ လေ့လာသူတွေက ပြောပါတယ်။
"ထိုဝေလငါးဟာ ရာပေါင်းများစွာသောပလပ်စတစ်ခွက်များ၊ တစ်ခါသုံး ပလတ်စတစ်အိတ်များစွာနဲ့ ပလတ်စတစ်ကြိုး အများအပြားပါ၀င်တဲ့ အိတ်များကို စားသုံးထားပါတယ်" လို့ လေ့လာသူတွေက ပြောကြားခဲ့ပါတယ်။
ထို sperm whaleတွေဟာ ပုံမှန်အားဖြင့်တော့ ပြည်ကြီးငါးအကြီးတွေ၊ ရေပဝဲတွေ၊ ပုစွန်တွေ၊ ငါးအသေးလေးတွေ၊ ငါးမန်းအသေးလေးတွေကို စားသုံးပြီး အများအားဖြင့် ကမ္ဘာ့အကြီးဆုံး ပင်လယ်သမုဒ္ဒရာတွေမှာ နေထိုင်ကြပါတယ်။ ဒီလို ရှားပါးသတ္တဝါတွေဟာ ကျွန်တော်တို့ နေ့စဉ်စွန့်ပစ်လိုက်တဲ့ ပလတ်စတစ်တွေကြောင့် သေဆုံးရတာ အလွန်သနားဖို့ကောင်းပါတယ်။
နှစ်စဉ် နှစ်တိုင်း ပလတ်စတစ်အမှိုက်တန်ချိန်ပေါင်းများစွာ ပင်လယ်သမုဒ္ဒရာထဲကို ရောက်သွားတဲ့အတွက် ကျွန်တော်တို့ သတိမထားမိတဲ့ ရေနေသတ္တ၀ါ များစွာလည်း အသက်ဆုံးရှုံးသွားနိုင်ပါတယ်။ အခုအချိန်ထိတော့ အခြေအနေကောင်းတယ်လို့ ထင်ရပေမယ့်လည်း ဒီလိုသာဆက်လက်နေသွားကြမယ်ဆိုရင် ရေနေသတ္တဝါများစွာရဲ့ အသက်ကို ထိခိုက်စေပြီး အဏ္ဏဝါသတ္တဝါများဟာ မျိုးဆက်ပျက်သုဉ်းသွားနိုင်ပါတယ်။
ဒါကြောင့် အခုကစပြီး ပလတ်စတစ်အမှိုက်တွေကို စနစ်တကျ စီမံခန့်ခွဲစွန့်ပစ်သင့်ပါတယ်။ ဒါ့အပြင် တစ်ခါသုံးပလတ်စတစ်အမှိုက်တွေကိုလည်း လျှော့သုံးပြီး တတ်နိုင်သမျှ ပြန်လည်အသုံးပြုကြတာပေါ့ရှင်။

Did you know that in November 2018, a 9.5-meter dead sperm whale was found dead with around 13 pounds of plastic waste inside its stomach? It was found in Kapota Island in the Wakatobi National Park, Indonesia. It has consumed an unthinkable amount of plastic waste which includes hundreds of plastic cups, twenty-five plastic bags, and a bag containing plastic strings.
Sperm whales usually consume giant squid, octopus, fish, shrimp, crabs, and even small sharks. They can be found in the world’s largest oceans. The fact of such rare species getting killed by the plastic wastes we use and generate every day is indeed pathetic and depressing.
Every year, billions of plastic waste end up in the ocean, and there can be many unknown marine creatures that are affected by tons of plastic waste. Things seem to be fine till now, if the trends continue, there can be a massive amount of marine creature deaths. They can even be extinct.
That’s why we must act now. Because later can become never. We must limit the amount of single-use plastic wastes, let them be recycled as much as possible.
