အခုလို ကမ္ဘာလုံးဆိုင်ရာ Covid-19 ကပ်ရောဂါကြီးပျံ့နှံနေတဲ့အချိန်မှာ ပါးစပ်၊နှာခေါင်းစည်းများ(Masks) နှင့် ကျန်းမာရေးဆိုင်ရာတစ်ကိုယ်ရည်အကာအကွယ်ဝတ်စုံများ (Personal Protective Equipment -PPE) တွေအကြောင်းကတော့ နေရာအနှံ့မှာကြားနေနိုင်ပါတယ်။
သိပ်မကြာသေးခင်ကပဲ အမှိုက်ပုံကနေ သုံးပြီးသား PPE တစ်ခုကို မိုးကာလို့ထင်မှတ်ပြီး လူတစ်ဦးကောက်ယူလာခဲ့တဲ့အကြောင်းကိုလည်း တွေ့မိကြမယ်လို့ထင်ပါတယ်။ အများစုကတော့ PPE ဆိုတာကိုကြားဖူးနေပေမဲ့ PPE ဆိုတာဘာလဲလို့မေးရင် အဖြူရောင်ဝတ်စုံလို့သာပြေးမြင်ကြပါတယ်။ ဒါပေမဲ့ PPE ဆိုတာက အဖြူရောင်ဝတ်စုံတစ်ခုတည်းကိုဆိုလိုတာတော့မဟုတ်ပါဘူး။

#ကျန်းမာရေးဆိုင်ရာတစ်ကိုယ်ရည်အကာအကွယ်ဝတ်စုံများ (Personal Protective Equipment -PPE) ဆိုတာကတော့ ဓာတုပစ္စည်း၊ ဓါတ်ရောင်ခြည်၊ လျှပ်စစ်၊ စက်ပိုင်းဆိုင်ရာသို့မဟုတ် အခြားအန္တရာယ်များနှင့် ထိတွေ့မှုကြောင့်ဖြစ်ပေါ်လာသောပြင်းထန်သောဒဏ်ရာများ သို့မဟုတ်ဖျားနာမှုများမှ ကာကွယ်ရန်ပြုလုပ်ထားတဲ့ ပစ္စည်းတွေကိုခေါ်ပါတယ်။
#PPE တွေမှာဆိုရင် လက်အိတ်များ(Gloves)၊ ခါးစည်းများ(Aprons)၊ အကာအကွယ်ဝတ်စုံရှည်များ (long sleeved gowns)၊ ခွဲစိတ်ခန်းသုံးမျက်နှာဖုံးများ(surgical masks)၊ မျက်မှန်များ(eye goggles)၊ မျက်နှာအကာအကွယ်များ(face visors) နှင့် အသက်ရှူကိရိယာမျက်နှာဖုံးများ(respirator masks) စတာတွေက ကျန်းမာရေးစောင့်ရှောက်မှုနှင့်ရောဂါကူးစက်မှုမှ တစ်ကိုယ်ရည်ကာကွယ်နိုင်ရန် အသုံးပြုနိုင်တဲ့ PPE အမျိူးအစားတွေဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
#သင့်လျော်သော PPE ကို ဂရုတစိုက်ရွေးချယ်ပြီးအသုံးမယ်ဆိုရင် ဓာတုပစ္စည်း သို့မဟုတ် ကျန်းမာရေးအရေးပေါ်အခြေအနေတွင်ပါဝင်သူများကို အသက်ရှူလမ်းကြောင်းဆိုင်ရာစနစ်၊ အရေပြား၊ မျက်စိ၊ မျက်နှာ၊ လက်၊ ခြေထောက်၊ ဦးခေါင်း နှင့် အကြားအာရုံထိခိုက်နိုင်တဲ့ အန္တရာယ်ရှိတဲ့အခြေအနေတွေကနေ ကောင်းစွာကာကွယ်ပေးနိုင်ပါတယ်။ အကာအကွယ်ပစ္စည်း (PPE ) တွေကိုတစ်ခုချင်းစီအသုံးပြုမယ်ဆိုရင်တော့ အန္တရာယ်အားလုံးကို အကာအကွယ်မပေးနိုင်ပါဘူး။
ဒါကြောင့် အန္တရာယ်ရှိနိုင်တဲ့ နေရာမျိုး၊ ရောဂါကူးစက်နိုင်တဲ့နေရာမျိုးတွေကိုမဖြစ်မနေသွားရမယ်ဆိုရင် အကာကွယ်ပေးနိုင်မဲ့ PPE တွေကို သေချာဝတ်ဆင်သွားသင့်ပါတယ်။ ထို့အပြင် တခါတရံ လူနာများကိုတိုက်ရိုက်စောင့်ရှောက်မှုပေးနေရတဲ့ လူနာ၏မိသားစုဝင်တွေအနေနဲ့လည်း လူနာနှင့်ထိတွေ့ရတဲ့အခါမျိုးတွေမှာ လိုအပ်တဲ့ PPE အမျိုးအစား(လက်အိတ်၊ နှာခေါင်းစည်း) စသည်တို့ကို အသုံးပြုသင့်ပြီး လက်တွေကိုလည်း ဂရုတစ်စိုက်ပြန်လည်ဆေးကြောရန်လိုအပ်ပါတယ်။သင့်လျော်စွာအသုံးမပြုပါက PPE များသည်ကူးစက်ပြန့်ပွားမှုအန္တရာယ်ကိုမြင့်တက်စေပြီး အသုံးပြုသူကိုလည်းရောဂါကူးစက်နိုင်စေပါတယ်။ ကိုယ်အသုံးပြုပြီးသား PPE တွေကိုလည်း အများပြည်သူမထိခိုက်အောင် စနစ်တကျစွန့်ပစ်ဖို့လည်း ဂရုပြုသင့်ပါတယ်။

At a time when the global Covid-19 pandemic is spreading, news about face masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) are all over the place. You may have recently seen a man pick up a used PPE from a dumpster, thinking it was a raincoat. Most people have heard of PPE, but when asked what PPE is, they see it as a white suit. But PPE is not the only white suit. Then what is PPE?
Personal protective equipment, or PPE, is designed to provide protection from serious injuries or illnesses resulting from contact with chemical, radiological, physical, electrical, mechanical, or other hazards. Gloves, aprons, long-sleeved gowns, surgical masks, eye goggles, face visors, and respirator masks are all examples of PPE that may be worn in the provision of healthcare.
Careful selection and use of adequate PPE should protect individuals involved in chemical emergencies from hazards affecting the respiratory system, skin, eyes, face, hands, feet, head, body, and hearing. No single combination of protective equipment and clothing is capable of protecting against all hazards. In addition, PPE may sometimes be used by the patient’s family/visitors, particularly if they are providing direct patient care e.g. assisting the patient with toileting.
In these circumstances, carers must be fully inducted in the use of PPE and Hand Hygiene. If used inappropriately PPE can increase the risk of transmitting infections and put people at risk of acquiring an infection. We should carefully dispose of the used PPEs in a way that does not harm the public.
